Ask Christina: What's The Difference Between A Medical Aesthetician And A Spa Esthetician?
April 25th, 2018 2:20pm
Many people are under the impression that a medical aesthetician and a spa esthetician are one and the same. Both are licensed skin care specialist and there can be a bit of overlap in terms of the services offered (like facials). However, a medical aesthetician specializes in more advanced skin care treatments – much like those you’d get from a doctor or plastic surgeon. For example, chemical peels, skin resurfacing, laser hair removal, hair rejuvenation and injections (like Botox®and fillers).
When you’re looking for a medical aesthetician, be sure to do your research first. Check qualifications, educational background and certifications as well as the reputation of the clinic. You’ll also want to check out the facility itself and meet the aesthetician. Don’t be afraid to ask questions about his or her qualifications, the procedures or the technology they use.
