What is Microneedling?

Microneedling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy) is the process of inducing thousands of controlled “micro-injuries” to the skin to stimulate the formation of collagen. At Clinique De Mode, we perform microneedling using the Eclipse MicroPen, the industry’s leading cordless micro-needle device.

The procedure uses a sterile tip of 12 tiny micro-needles in order to penetrate the skin at a rapid speed, causing microscopic punctures as the pen is gently glided over the surface area. These tiny micro-injuries then stimulates the skin’s natural collagen and elastin formation through the healing process.

Collagen and elastin are two of the main natural compounds that contribute to youthful, firmer-looking skin and microneedling helps the skin to produce these elements naturally for an improved appearance.

How Quickly Will I See Results From Microneedling?

Immediately following your microneedling treatment, the area will be glowing with some possible redness. Over the next 24 to 48 hours, you will continue to see visible improvements as collagen production is enhanced and cell renewal continues.

Continued benefits from microneedling will be visible within two to six weeks from the date of treatment, as the deeper layers of skin are plumped with new collagen and pores are tightened and minimized. With continued improvements seen 6-8 months after the treatment area. Repeated treatments every month are recommended to achieve the best results with long-lasting impact.

FAQs

  • When can I return to work following a Microneedling Treatment?

Microneedling is an exceptionally safe, semi-invasive treatment that does not involve any harsh chemicals. Immediately following your treatment you will experience slight redness which will last for 24-48 hours. At which point you can apply makeup to cover any specific areas.

  • Is Microneedling Safe?

Microneedling is considered an extremely safe treatment. No harsh chemicals are used and brand new needle tips are sterilized before each treatment according to the highest safety standards. Irritation and complications following microneedling are extremely rare and most redness will resolve within 24 hours.

  • Does Microneedling Hurt?

Topical Numbing cream is used prior to the treatment to minimize any potential discomfort and the Eclipse Micropen uses extremely fine needles that can barely be felt during the treatment, with the after-effects similar to a mild sunburn that resolves within 24 hours. If a client is concerned about potential discomfort, a topical numbing cream can be applied to minimize any potentially unpleasant sensations.

  • How Do I Prepare for Microneedling?

As with any form of microneedling, it is recommended ceasing the use of Retinol and AHA/BHA products as well as extended sun exposure at least one week prior and following the appointment to minimize the chance of irritating the skin. Also, it is recommended to discontinue the use of all blood thinners such as alcohol, Advil, and Tylenol.
